While all programs at CDC work with students on job skills, they also expect students to maintain specific academic standards. Career related training in language, math, and science, along with experiential educational opportunities, provide students with necessary entry level skills for employment or post-secondary options. To ensure the integrity of each program offered, the school’s focus is to have programs coordinated with the post-secondary/community college system.
Achieving Academic Success
Small class sizes, individualization based on performance, and practical experienced-based instruction that leads to employment combine to ensure success for students. Specifically,
- The Career Development Center prepares students for employment by teaching job skills, analytical thinking, and teamwork..
- A full range of counseling services are available for students, including assistance with program and career selection.
- All programs offer students the opportunity to participate in career and technical education student organizations.
What Makes the Career Development Center Unique
Any high school student from the St. Vrain Valley School District may attend the Career Development Center. Transportation is provided to and from each home high school and CDC.
Career and technical education classes provide students with both academic preparation and practical knowledge.
Programs are based on community college curriculum and local industry needs.
Students are prepared for two-year and four-year college classes and other postsecondary education. Some programs offer credit that can be applied to Colorado two year colleges.
Programs expose students to the latest in technology via theory, as well as hands-on experiences, in laboratory and real-world environments. CDC assists students in job placement and cooperative work experience.
CDC curriculum offers elective credit for high school students plus English credits in selected programs that apply toward graduation requirements.
Entry-level training is provided, in classes with students from throughout the St. Vrain Valley School District, that encourages students to explore and grow.
